Precinct chief accused of rape surrenders
MANILA, Philippines - A police precinct commander accused of raping a 15-year-old girl surrendered yesterday to his superiors at the Parañaque City police headquarters.
Senior Inspector Mujalni Dugasan, commander of the Police Community Precinct 3 in Barangay San Dionisio, showed up at the city police headquarters before noon, according to city police chief Senior Superintendent Andrie Felix.
He declined to give more details but Southern Police District director Chief Superintendent Jose Erwin Villacorte said Dugasan was accompanied by his lawyer when he showed up yesterday.
Dugasan is restricted to barracks pending the administrative proceedings againts him, Villacorte said.
Dugasan was charged with rape and child abuse before the city prosecutor’s office Thursday afternoon.
His alleged victim’s parents filed a complaint before the police women’s and children’s desk, saying the girl was looking for her friend at the precinct and had asked for help.
Dugasan offered the girl a ride home, but brought her to the city police headquarters parking lot and raped her in his car, the girl’s parents alleged.
