Man holds wife hostage

MANILA, Philippines - A man was arrested yesterday morning after he held his wife hostage and tried to burn down their house on Quiricada street in Tondo, Manila.

Leandro Reyes, 68, and his wife, Dolores, 63, had just arrived from Baguio at around 4 a.m. and started arguing, police said. 

Sources said Reyes, holding a glass shard and a knife, held Dolores hostage and became agitated when policemen arrived. The lawmen barged into the house after Reyes threatened to hurt his wife and burn the house.

Dolores suffered bruises during the incident.
