Drunk man takes ex-girlfriend hostage

MANILA, Philippines - A drunk man was killed by police sharpshooters after he took his former girlfriend hostage in Barangay San Isidro, Parañaque City yesterday afternoon.

Alexander Godofredo went to his former girlfriend’s house to try to reconcile with her. When Alicia Nulla refused, he pulled out a knife and took her hostage, city police chief Senior Superintendent Billy Beltran said.

“After several minutes of failed negotiation, (Godofredo) started stabbing (Nulla),” he said.

Godofredo died on the spot after being shot in the head and right shoulder.

Nulla was treated at a nearby hospital and declared out of danger, Beltran said.
