Hold order out vs guard-turned-robber

Janvic Mateo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A Quezon City court has issued a hold departure order (HDO) against a security guard accused of robbing P1.2 million from the bank where he was formerly employed.

In an order dated Feb. 8, Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 77 Judge Germano Francisco Legaspi granted the request to issue an HDO against Reynante Gante after the defense posed no objection against the motion.

According to Legaspi, the HDO is issued to ensure that Gante stays within the court’s jurisdiction. The former security guard is currently out on bail after he posted the P100,000 bond set by the court.

Gante’s former co-workers Reynante Yu and Renee Rose Avendano are also seeking to increase the amount of bail to P1.2 million. The motion has yet to be resolved.

Gante is accused of carting away the money after he herded the bank employees into a back room on May 25, 2012. He was arrested in his home in San Luis town, Agusan del Sur last month.
