Carabuena posts bail

Janvic Mateo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Robert Blair Carabuena, the motorist who was videotaped assaulting a traffic enforcer  of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA),  posted a P24,000 bail yesterday for his temporary freedom.

Carabuena showed up at the Quezon City Hall of Justice, almost a week after Metropolitan Trial Court Judge Juris Dilinila-Callanta ordered his arrest for failing to attend his arraignment last Feb. 7.

A court staff said the hearing on Carabuena’s motion will push through tomorrow.

The motorist, who is facing direct assault charges, has asked the court to lift the arrest warrant issued against him, saying he failed to attend his arraignment because he was suffering from gastroenteritis.

He apologized to the court and promised to be present on his next scheduled arraignment on March 7.

The charges against Carabuena stemmed from the complaint of MMDA traffic constable Saturnino Fabros, who flagged him for a traffic violation on Aug. 11, 2012.
