UST student kills self with kitchen knife

MANILA, Philippines - A University of Sto. Tomas student died after she allegedly stabbed herself with a kitchen knife in her bedroom Monday morning.

Claire Jennifer Rodel, 21, died at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute of a stab wound near her heart at past 11 a.m.

Rodel’s younger sister found her unconscious, bloodied and lying face down on the bed at their family home in Barangay Bahay Toro, Quezon City at past 10 a.m.

Police Officer 2 Julius Cesar Balbuena said Rodel, who was taking up physical therapy, left a suicide note. A bloodied kitchen knife was found near her body.

Balbuena said the student was allegedly scolded the night before by her parents over her grades and her relationship with her boyfriend.
