MANILA, Philippines - Two Japanese men and their alleged accomplice were arrested Sunday for allegedly trying to sell fake gold bars to an undercover police officer in Manila.

Katsyuki Kanamori, 58; Tsuyoshi Hamada, 51, and broker Elmer Bautista, 58, were apprehended at the parking lot of a hotel in Malate at past 2 p.m. Sunday.

The entrapment stemmed from an informant’s claim that the suspects were selling fake gold bars for P1 million each to Filipino and Japanese businessmen, according to Superintendent Ronald Lee of the National Capital Region Police Office.
