Newborn boy’s body dumped in garbage heap

Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The lifeless body of a newborn boy, with a pair of panties stuffed in his mouth, was found in a pile of garbage in Quezon City yesterday morning.

Police Officer 2 Anthony Tejerero said the infant’s umbilical cord was still attached when his body was found at past 6 a.m. in front of a covered basketball court in Barangay Matandang Balara. The baby was wrapped in a black trash bag and placed in a box.

Tejerero said the infant was found by trash collectors Rollie Abon and Jimmy Causa, whose garbage truck passed by the area to pick up the trash at the basketball court.

When the two were about to empty the contents of the box they picked up, they were shocked to find the baby inside. Also found in the box was what was believed to be the baby’s placenta, Tejerero said.
