MANILA, Philippines - Three more persons were arrested by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) yesterday for gun ban violation.

The arrests of Ricardo Adayaran, 37, Bon-Bon Gonzales, 18, and Eric Echavez brought to 37 the number of gun ban violators nabbed by police in the metropolis since the NCRPO implemented checkpoint operations last Jan. 13.

NCRPO chief Director Leonardo Espina said they have intensified the campaign against loose firearms to ensure a peaceful election in May.

He said personnel of the warrant and subpoena sections from different police stations in Metro Manila have intensified the serving of arrest warrants against wanted persons.

Pasay City policemen earlier arrested Abigail Banayag on the strength of a warrant of arrest issued by a Municipal Trial Court (MTC) judge for grave threats.

Jesus Fontanilla was nabbed in Las Piñas City for homicide while Joey Jovenes was collared in Marikina City for violence against women and children.
