Chinese nabbed for selling P2.5-M shabu
MANILA, Philippines - A Chinese man was arrested for allegedly selling shabu worth P2.5 million in Quezon City yesterday afternoon.
In an interview with The STAR, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Senior Superintendent Richard Albano said the suspect was reportedly caught red-handed selling shabu weighing about half a kilo.
Albano declined to name the suspect, saying they are still staging follow-up operations to arrest the suspect’s accomplices.
The suspect was arrested during a drug bust at the parking lot of a fastfood store at the corner of Banawe and Maria Clara streets at past 2 p.m.
Based on estimates of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, a kilo of shabu costs about P5 million. The price varies in other areas.
According to Albano, the suspect is reportedly a member of the so-called “Binondo Drug Group†operating in Metro Manila. Yesterday’s operation was prompted by a tip that the QCPD’s Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Group received about two weeks ago.
Before this, the QCPD also arrested another drug suspect from the same syndicate two months ago, Albano said. The first arrested suspect led policemen to the one arrested yesterday.
