MANILA, Philippines -  A barangay tanod from Tondo, Manila was shot by police officers after he was accused of attempting to rob the passengers of a jeepney in Dagat-Dagatan, Caloocan City Sunday night.

Alexander Bondoy, 29, and his two companions were allegedly running away as people were seeking help against a robber, police said.

When he was cornered, Bondoy allegedly tried to aim his .38 caliber revolver at approaching police officers, who shot him.

Investigators said Bondoy is a watchman of Barangay 128 in Tondo. He is confined at the Diosdado Macapagal Hospital.
