Boy, 5, found dead in river

CEBU, Philippines - The body of a five-year-old child was found yesterday afternoon floating in the Butuanon River in sitio Salvacion in barangay Maguikay, Mandaue City.

The child, identified as Owen Jumabos, was not breathing when found by his step-father Danilo Mendaros along the riverbank at around 2 p.m.

“Nakit-an diha na sa pangpang sa Butuanon river diin ulo ra niya maoy nakit-an sa mga nakakita kay mura man ni siya ug nikapyot sa pangpang ug naningkamot nga mahaw-as sa sapa, ilabi nga itom pud kaayu ug stagnant ang tubig sa maong lugar,” PO3 Cedric Castillo Castillo said.

The child reportedly left their house after waking up at around 6 a.m. yesterday morning.

Although there were no bruises and contusions found on the child’s body, still the boy was autopsied yesterday. — (BANAT NEWS)
