Prosecution ends presentation of witnesses in Ivler murder case

MANILA, Philippines - The presentation of witnesses in the murder case filed against road rage suspect Jason Ivler has ended as the prosecution panel formally offered its evidence.

The prosecution panel headed by Senior Deputy State Prosecutor Richard Anthony Fadullon presented  47 exhibits as evidence against Ivler before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 84.

Among the evidence was the autopsy report on Renato Victor Ebarle Jr., a son of a former Palace official whom Ivler allegedly shot dead in 2009 following a traffic altercation, and the sworn statement of a witness who identified Ivler as the killer.

The prosecution also offered as evidence an exhibit proving that the slugs recovered from the crime scene came from the gun recovered from Ivler during his arrest in 2010.

The defense is expected to file a comment before the court decides whether it will accept the evidence offered by the prosecution.

Ebarle, the son of former presidential chief of staff Renato Ebarle Sr., suffered three gunshot wounds.

Ivler was arrested on Jan. 18, 2010 by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation at the house of his mother, Marlene Aguilar, in a subdivision in Quezon City.
