2 Caloocan inmates attacked by rival gang
MANILA, Philippines - Two members of the Sigue-Sigue Sputnik jailhouse gang suffered stab wounds in an attack by members of a rival gang, the Sigue-Sigue Commando, in the Caloocan City Jail Thursday afternoon.
Chief Inspector Manuel Chan Jr., the jail’s acting warden, said homicide suspect Eleazar Manansala, 32, and Michael de la Cruz, 28, were recuperating at the jail’s infirmary yesterday after they were treated at the President Diosdado Macapagal Memorial Medical Center.
Senior Inspector Arnel Sarino, chief of the Caloocan City Jail Community Relation Services Office, said that at around 3:30 p.m., four Commando gang members – car theft suspects Jovie Soriano and Jay Espiritu; rape suspect Arnold Domingo and Jon-Jon Aninon, chargd with attempted homicide – allegedly staged a simultaneous attack on Cells 6 and 12, where Manansala and Santos were detained, respectively.
Chan said the Commando gang members attacked Manansala and Santos after reportedly learning from fellow inmates that the two men were out to avenge the killing of two Sputnik members in 2006 by the Commando gang.
