MANILA, Philippines - Two brothers were wounded when they were reportedly hacked by a neighbor they tried to pacify after he ran amuck in Camarin, Caloocan City Wednesday night.
Edelberto and Enrique Espanillo, both residents of Barangay 177, were listed in critical condition at the Commonwealth Hospital due to hack wounds in the head, neck and chest, Police Officer 2 Mark Andrew Bartolome said yesterday.
He said the victims’ neighbor, Marcelo Ramos, was arrested in a followup operation and will be charged with double frustrated homicide.
Witnesses told police that Ramos, who was drunk, passed by as the victims and their friends were drinking in front of their house at around 9 p.m. and challenged them to a fight.
Edelberto tried to pacify Ramos, who went home but came back, armed with a bolo. He attacked Edelberto, then turned on Enrique when the latter tried to calm him down.
