Trike driver nabbed for stabbing cabbie

MANILA, Philippines - A tricycle driver was arrested for allegedly stabbing a taxi driver who hit his tricycle by accident while maneuvering the cab in Barangay Singkamas, Makati City Sunday night.

City police chief Senior Superintendent Manuel Lukban said police officers arrested Monico Eres, 60, after he reportedly stabbed 56-year-old Ferdinand Olipas along Kalayaan Avenue at around 7:30 p.m.

Police said Olipas was about to park his taxi and was reversing it when it hit Eres’ tricycle. A heated argument erupted, ending with Eres stabbing Olipas in the chest and abdomen.

Police arrested Eres and seized the knife from him.

Olipas was declared out of danger at the Ospital ng Makati.
