MANILA, Philippines - An 81-year-old Canadian man was shot and robbed by two men as he was on his way to his fighting cock farm in Valenzuela City Sunday to distribute his employees’ Christmas bonuses.

James Mark had driven his Toyota Innova from his house in Parañaque City and was on his way to his farm in Barangay Tagalag when two men blocked his path on Dr. Lascano street in Barangay Tugatog, Police Officer 3 Rommel Habig said.

One of the men shot at the driver’s side of the car, shattering the glass window and hitting Mark in the left arm and right elbow.

Habig said the men took Mark’s attaché case, which contained documents and P50,000 intended for his employees’ Christmas bonuses. The robbers fled in a waiting tricycle en route to Caloocan City.

Mark sought the help of Police Community Precinct 4 police officers, who brought him to the Malabon City community hospital for treatment.

Police tried to chase the fleeing robbers but failed to arrest them.
