MANILA, Philippines - A welder was killed during a street fight between two groups of teenagers in Navotas City at past midnight yesterday.
Reynald Gaa, 20, a resident of Barangay North Bay Boulevard South (NBBS), died of stab wounds while undergoing treatment at the Tondo Medical Center.
Police Officer 2 Exequiel Sangco said four of the five suspects – Louie Balangquit, 18; Arnel Loyogoy, 21; Hilario Surio, 22; and Dante Nuterte, 24 – were arrested.
Witness Mark Anthony Lubao told police the victim’s group and the suspects, all drunk, met along Alumahan Extension street in Barangay North Bay Boulevard South and engaged in a heated argument that led to a street fight. After the commotion, Gaa was seen lying, wounded, on the pavement.
Barangay NBBS watchmen and Police Community Precinct 13 operatives arrested Balangquit, Loyogoy, Surio and Nuterte in a follow-up operation. None of the suspects admitted stabbing Gaa, but Sangco said they will be charged with homicide.
