3 hurt as worker runs amuck

MANILA, Philippines - A construction worker ran amuck and hacked three people at the height of a birthday party in Pasig City Wednesday.

Arnel Trillanes, 23, was drinking at the party and reportedly drew a bolo and attacked Lauro Mirabueno, 25, who was helping birthday celebrant Gerald Bandol prepare food for his guests at his house on Lansones street in Barangay Manggahan. He then turned on Rhoel Raceles, 24, and Alvin Namuro, 25. The three victims, all newspaper dealers, are being treated at the Pasig City General Hospital.

Trillanes then walked away. Bystanders did not stop him for fear of being attacked, police said.

Senior Superintendent Mario Rariza, Pasig City police chief, said they are trying to find out what drove Trillanes to go on a rampage. He is the subject of a manhunt, Rariza said.
