Vendor loses P.1 M to robbers

Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A chicken vendor lost P100,000 in cash during a robbery at a Quezon City market yesterday morning.

Marilou Gubat, 42, told PO2 Joven Raymaro that the two suspects posed as customers and grabbed her bag containing the cash, a mobile phone and bankbooks.

The fleeing suspects fired their guns to scare the crowd, hitting security guard Richard Mallon. He was rushed to the Sta. Teresita General Hospital for treatment.

A firefight ensued when police and village watchmen chased the motorcycle-riding suspects.

Police believed that one of the suspects was shot and wounded based on the bloodstains seen on the motorcycle, which was found abandoned at the corner of Cristobal and Dapitan streets in Manila.

Witnesses told investigators that the suspects were picked up by a silver Mitsubishi Montero (NOW-246).
