Caloocan beefs up security for dawn Masses

Pete Laude - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Caloocan City government and the local police assured churchgoers that they will be safe as they attend the Simbang Gabi or dawn Masses, which started yesterday.

Mayor Enrico Echiveri said yesterday city police chief Senior Superintendent Rimas Calixto deployed uniformed police officers near Catholic churches for the duration of the dawn Masses, which will be held until Christmas Day.

The city government has also coordinated with Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas president Councilor Ricojudge Echiverri for the implementation of security measures by barangays.

Echiverri advised residents to inform the police or village watchmen of the presence of suspicious-looking persons in the area to prevent crimes.
