Moneychanger shop owner robbed, killed
MANILA, Philippines - An owner of a moneychanger shop was robbed and killed by armed men on a motorcycle in Quezon City Friday night.
Marvin Sandiko, 35, died from a gunshot wound in the back while he was being treated at the St. Agnes Hospital at past 8 p.m.
Police Officer 1 Romeo Nino said the robbery happened at past 6 p.m. in Barangay Damayan. The victim had just arrived at his shop just before it was supposed to close for the day.
Tricycle driver Marcelino Cona said three men were involved in the robbery and at least two were armed with handguns. He said he was waiting for passengers when he heard gunshots. When he checked, he saw Sandiko lying on the ground, wounded and asking for help.
One of the robbers grabbed Sandiko’s backpack, Cona said. He added that two robbers fired their handguns into the air before riding a motorcycle driven by a third man.
Investigators recovered two shells and a bullet for a .45 caliber pistol from the crime scene.
