MANILA, Philippines - Two women were shot as they shouted for help when they were robbed by four men riding a tricycle in Caloocan City before dawn yesterday.
Hazel Paguio, 32, and Lailanie Lacheca, 30, were rushed to the Manila Central University Hospital for treatment of bullet wounds in the forehead and nape, respectively. Senior Police Officer 2 Ed Pagtalunan said that the victims’ wounds were not life-threatening.
The women were waiting to ride a passenger jeepney at the corner of 6th Avenue and Rizal Avenue Extension when they were robbed by the tricycle-riding men at around 4:20 a.m. The robbers then shot the women when they sought the help of bystanders.
Witnesses said the robbers reportedly fled to a safehouse in Bagong Barrio, also in Caloocan.
