MANILA, Philippines - A suspected carjacker was killed while his three companions were arrested following a shootout with policemen in Caloocan City, officials said yesterday.

Chief Inspector Rodrigo Soriano, head of Station Investigation and Detective Management Branch of the Caloocan City police, said the slain suspect was identified only as “Owel.”

Soriano said Sandro Santiago, 32; Jake Linasan, 28; and  Jimmy Balantan, 29, surrendered after seeing Owel killed.

Soriano said a concerned citizen told police about the presence of armed men at a house along Kiko street around 4:30 p.m.

Crime scene investigators recovered two .45 caliber pistols, two motorcycles and a still undetermined amount of money. Soriano said they are digging deeper into the incident.
