Cop faces raps for trashing neighbor’s house

MANILA, Philippines - A policeman was charged Friday for allegedly breaking a window, kicking the gate and trying to break a rocking chair at a neighbor’s house in Barangay Veterans Village, Quezon City on Nov. 29.

Police Officer 2 Hermogenes Capili said malicious mischief charges have been filed against Senior Police Officer 2 Nelson Dantes, who is assigned with the Quezon City Police District Station 4.

Dantes’ neighbor, Dramonz Mariano, 54, told police he was already asleep when he was awakened by a noise outside his house. Mariano said he saw Dantes, apparently drunk, trying to break a rocking chair in front of their gate.

Police said Mariano told Dantes not to break the rocking chair but Dantes then allegedly started shouting at him and challenging him to a fistfight.

Mariano said Dantes’ brother arrived and the policeman allegedly started kicking the gate and throwing stones that broke one of the windows, according to police.
