11 hurt in EDSA bus mishap
MANILA, Philippines - Eleven persons were injured after a bus crossed over from one lane to another along EDSA and rammed two vehicles in Cubao, Quezon City yesterday morning.
Senior Police Officer 4 Henry Se said charges of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to properties and multiple physical injuries will be filed against Dexter Hermogenes, 29, who was driving the Santrans bus (PVB-263).
The Santrans bus smashed a DLTB bus (TYX-997) and a Toyota Corolla (PLI-796) at past 5 a.m. along the P. Tuazon Boulevard underpass of EDSA in Cubao.
The 11 victims were brought to the East Avenue Medical Center for treatment. Five were passengers of the Santrans bus: Gregorio Mana, 46; Richard Bagalay, 20; Reggie Elgarab, 29; Roland Castillo, 39; and Reynante Saguirel, 18.
The others were the driver of the Corolla, Erano Cuevas, 60; and five other passengers of the DLTB bus: Joselito Rada, 43; Timothy Rada; Laurence Alonzo, 26, Jayson Santos, 26; and Dogillo Pablo, 23.
The Santrans bus was moving along the southbound lane of EDSA while the DLTB bus and Corolla were both on the northbound lane.
Hermogenes said he swerved and hit the vehicles after a dump truck overtook his bus and suddenly stopped while they were going through the underpass.
