Man tagged in slay try on ex-cop charged
MANILA, Philippines - A man who was arrested Friday for allegedly being one of two men who ambushed a retired policeman and his companions has been charged before the prosecutor’s office, an official said yesterday.
Superintendent Virgilio Fabian, commander of the Quezon City Police District Station 5, said Pilagio Facunla underwent inquest proceedings on Saturday for three counts of frustrated murder.
Retired policeman Eduardo Valle said Friday that his estranged business partner, Emilio Castillo, allegedly has the motive to have him killed. Facunla – who was arrested while he was waiting in Castillo’s car at Camp Crame – did not implicate Castillo, Fabian said.
Police said moneylenders Valle and Castillo had a falling out over P450,000 in receivables.
