MANILA, Philippines - Police tracker teams are monitoring places where two suspects in the rape and murder of model Julie Ann Rodelas are believed to be hiding, an official said yesterday.
Senior Superintendent Neri Ilagan, deputy director for operations of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), said Efren Talib and an alias Aldos could have fled the community in Culiat, where Rodelas was briefly held before she was killed.
“We are looking at these other places,” Ilagan said in an interview.
QCPD director Chief Superintendent Mario dela Vega has formed tracker teams to go after the two suspects.
An arrested suspect, Jeymar Waradje, said Talib and Aldos allegedly raped and killed Rodelas.
Rodelas’ friend and fellow model, Althea Altamirano, and her boyfriend, Fernando Quiambao Jr., have been charged with murder following their arrest over the weekend.
Altamirano had admitted to prodding her boyfriend to “teach” Rodelas “a lesson” for spreading talk about her already having two children. She admitted that she does have two children.
Meanwhile, QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit head Chief Inspector Rodel Marcelo said Waradje will also be charged with murder in court.
The fiscal’s office released an amended resolution, overturning an earlier one that recommended the case against Waradje be subjected to further investigation.
