Woman uses fake credit card to pay for groceries
MANILA, Philippines - A woman was arrested in a supermarket in Cubao, Quezon City Tuesday night when she tried to pay for P14,000 worth of groceries using a fake credit card.
Chelou Alimague confessed to using a “duplicate card” bearing the name Renz Ramos, said Superintendent Ramon Pranada, commander of the Quezon City Police District Station 7. She was arrested along with Red Lopez and Mark Atienza.
Supermarket personnel notice the card “didn’t look authentic” and contacted the bank, which in turn called the real owner of the card, Marigil Castro.
Pranada said the suspects are facing charges of estafa and violation of the access device law.
