Caloocan cops hunt down beauty shop theft suspect

Pete Laude - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Police officers are searching for a man who reportedly stole from two beauty parlors in Caloocan City where he applied for a job as a stylist last week.

Police Officer 2 Mark Andrew Bartolome said the suspect used two different names – Erick Arcega and John Chad de la Cruz – when he applied at Worx Salon and another establishment.

Worx Salon owner Rodrigo Bostre, 55, said the suspect introduced himself as Erick Arcega and submitted a resume with his photo, using a Quezon City address, when he applied for a job as “senior stylist” on Sept. 26. He persuaded Bostre’s wife to evaluate his capability by having him “rebond” her hair. He told her to remove her earrings while he prepared the equipment and chemicals for the procedure.

In the middle of the procedure, he excused himself and went out of the salon for a snack but never came back. Bostre said they found out that the suspect allegedly took his wife’s earrings, worth P10,000, as well as an electric iron and hair clippers worth P7,000.

Bostre said that another salon owner also reported being victimized by the same suspect, who used the name John Chad de la Cruz and listed Camarin, Caloocan City as his residence when he applied for a job.
