Metro workers to get P10 hike
MANILA, Philippines - Minimum wage workers in Metro Manila will get a P10 increase in their daily take-home pay starting tomorrow, the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) said yesterday.
“The remaining P10 of the P30 wage increase for Metro Manila workers ordered (earlier this year) will take effect on Nov. 1,” the TUCP said.
With the P10 pay hike, the TUCP said the minimum wage for workers in the metropolis will be pegged at P456 for non-agricultural workers and P419 for agricultural workers.
TUCP president Democrito Mendoza reminded the employers and management to comply with the new minimum wage rate.
Early this year, TUCP sought a P90 increase in the daily minimum wage for the 700,000 workers in Metro Manila to help them cope with the rising cost of essential products.
The Metro Manila wage board’s order also increases to P419 the minimum wage for workers in private hospitals with bed capacity of 100 or fewer, retail or service establishments employing 15 workers or fewer, manufacturing establishments regularly employing fewer than 10 workers.
