STAR reporter loses P.1 M to burglars

Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Burglars broke into the apartment unit of STAR reporter Jaime Laude in Quezon City and took around P120,000 worth of cash and valuables.

Superintendent Osmundo de Guzman, commander of Quezon City Police District Station 1, said Laude reported that he lost around P7,000; a Macbook Pro laptop; a digital camera and a pouch bag.

De Guzman said the items were taken from Laude’s unit on the third floor of an apartment building in Barangay San Isidro.

According to De Guzman, the burglars gained entry by forcing open the front door. He said the unit was left locked but unattended at around noon Thursday.

When Laude’s son, Paulo, arrived at around 6 p.m. he found out that the front door was already open. When he went in and checked, he found that the unit was in disarray and the items were already gone.

De Guzman said they were able to get four different latent prints from the apartment unit that could be from the suspects.

The prints not belonging to family members would be compared to existing prints of possible suspects in the hope of identifying the burglars.
