Retired cops to receive pension through ATM cards
MANILA, Philippines - Retired members of the Philippine National Police will no longer endure long line waiting for their pensions in checks after PNP chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome approved the use of automated teller machines (ATMs) for pensioners starting Monday.
He said “all pensioners with ATM cards and PIN mailer can withdraw their pension from any Land Bank of the Philippines ATM machine nationwide,” while pensioners who have enrolled in the PNP Finance Service’s ATM program but were unable to get their ATM card and PIN mailer can still withdraw their pension from an LBP branch in an over-the-counter transaction.
Bartolome said the PNP is continuously updating the current master list of 60,621 PNP and Philippine Constabulary/Integrated National Police pensioners to maintain the integrity of the police pension payroll.
The PNP chief added that pensioners will need to present two valid identification cards and in the absence of a PNP retiree card, the pensioners update form issued by the Police Retirees Benefit Service (PRBS) can be used.
Bartolome said the PNP, in coordination with the LBP, has also provided a “courtesy lane” for pensioners with special concerns during the enrollment. PNP and LBP personnel also conduct home visitations to pensioners to enroll those with physical or mental disability.
He said the mandatory implementation of the automated or checkless ATM pension system was carried out by the PNP through the issuance of the Standard and Operation Procedure 2012-001.
