1 dead, 1 hurt over drinking spree

MANILA, Philippines - A man attacked his partner’s friend and her father after the two joined his partner in a drinking spree in San Andres Bukid, Manila Monday night.

Nelson Navarro, 42, a supermarket employee, stabbed Melissa Magura first when she accompanied his partner, Salvacion Peniz, to their home after having drinks. When Zosimo Magura saw Navarro attacking his daughter, he intervened but was himself stabbed. He managed to hack Navarro with his bolo.

Zosimo was declared dead on arrival at the Sta. Ana Hospital while Melissa was listed as in critical condition at the same hospital. Navarro is reportedly recovering from his wounds.
