Valenzuela's second most wanted falls
MANILA, Philippines - Valenzuela City’s number two most wanted person finally fell into the hands of the police Monday after four years in hiding.
Superintendent Neofito Caday, acting city police chief, said Mario Alvarez, 32, who is wanted for murder and three counts of rape, was nabbed while sniffing shabu with couple Rabbie and Lovely Baldecantos.
Caday said the couple was allegedly responsible for the proliferation of illegal drugs in Barangay Marulas and nearby villages.
The station investigation and detective branch headed by Chief Inspector Allan Ruba received information that Alvarez was spotted in the house of the Baldecantos couple at 6 p.m.
According to Ruba, Alvarez has a pending warrant of arrest issued by Valenzuela Judge Emma Matammu for the killing of Wilfredo Flora in 2010.
He is also being sought by the authorities for raping his 12-year-old cousin three times in 2008.
Drug charges were filed against Alvarez and the Baldecantoses.
The couple was also slapped with obstruction of justice for harboring a fugitive.
