Cop charged for QCPD jailbreak
MANILA, Philippines - A policeman faces charges for the escape of three detainees from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 10, which is located along EDSA, an official said yesterday.
Senior Police Officer 1 Chester Ticobay has been relieved from his post and faces an administrative case of serious neglect of duty and a criminal charge of evasion through negligence while the detainee is under custody, QCPD Station 10 commander Superintendent Marcelino Pedrozo Jr. said.
Pedrozo said they have launched a manhunt for the three escapees: suspected snatchers Ruel Dantos and Jestoni Tributo and drug suspect Jedi San Luis.
According to Pedrozo, the incident happened at past 4 a.m. on Monday.
Village watchmen brought in a suspect and as Ticobay was ushering the new detainee into the cell, the three shoved him and forced their way out.
Ticobay said he tried to go after the three suspects. He called other policemen to help, but the suspects had crossed EDSA and disappeared.
