One-armed man nabbed on gun raps

MANILA, Philippines - A man whose right arm is missing was arrested for carrying a gun outside his house in Caloocan City Wednesday afternoon.

Police officers were conducting a surveillance operation on Panday Pira street in Barangay 144 when they saw Peter Morales, 29, holding a .45 caliber Ruger pistol. When the lawmen accosted him, Morales said he has a license for the gun, which he secured in July, but could not produce a permit to carry it outside his residence, investigators said.

“What is unusual in the case is how Peter, a jobless civilian with only one arm, was able to secure a license for a high-powered handgun,” Police Officer 2 Michael Olpindo said.

Charges of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition were filed against Morales with the office of city fiscal Diosdado Azarcon.
