Suspect in Caloocan exec's slay falls
MANILA, Philippines – A man alleged to be the leader of a robbery group was arrested yesterday in connection with the killing of a Caloocan city official two months ago.
City police chief Senior Superintendent Jude Santos said Richard Ramos was caught at around 8:30 a.m. at his lair in Barangay 163. He said Ramos is the city police’s most wanted person and has pending cases of robbery with homicide, robbery with double frustrated homicide, attempted homicide, and illegal possession of firearms in different courts in the city.
Witnesses identified Ramos as one of at least four men who ambushed and killed Ruben Merrera, officer-in-charge of the Caloocan City Hall North environmental sanitation services office, on June 28. Merrera’s wife suffered at least two bullet wounds but survived.
