Maguans to DOJ: Release probe on Rolito Go caper

- Non Alquitran - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – The family of road rage victim Eldon Maguan yesterday urged the Department of Justice (DOJ) to release to the public the result of the parallel investigation they conducted in connection with the escape of Rolito Go from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) last Aug. 14.

Maguan’s sister, Grace, said Justice Secretary Leila de Lima did not file any administrative or criminal case against the NBP officials and personnel liable for Go’s overnight disappearance.

Grace expressed disbelief over the claims of Go that he was kidnapped by unidentified agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) inside the national penitentiary.

She said that even President Aquino could not believe a kidnapping could occur right inside the NBP.

According to Grace, President Aquino himself believed that Go escaped from the NBP on Aug. 14 in connivance with the jail guards and NBP officials.

However, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome publicly announced after Go surfaced the following day that the convict was kidnapped and brought to Batangas by the unidentified suspects.

The joint investigating team composed of the PNP’s Anti-Kidnapping Group, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Manila and NBI has so far released only one sketch of the suspects.
