Businessman files kidnap, rob charges vs 6 MPD cops
MANILA, Philippines - A businessman from Pasig City has filed kidnapping and robbery complaint against six members of the Manila Police District for arresting him without an arrest warrant on Aug. 24.
Niel Hayuhay, 62, showed up yesterday at the MPD-General Assignment Section to file charges against PO2 Luisito Gutierrez, PO1 Anthony Fernandez, PO1 Paolo Levin Angelo Nerviza, PO1 Wilfredo Cinco of the Regional Police Holding Administrative Unit and two other unidentified officers of MPD Station 8 in Sta. Mesa and their civilian cohort Adoracion Albiz.
The complainant was accompanied by Superintendent Francisco Gabriel, chief of the MPD District Investigation Division Management.
Based on Hayuhay’s complaint, the policemen arrested him outside his house on Bombay street, Pasig City shortly after he arrived on a motorcycle.
He told Senior Police Officer James Poso, officer-on-case, that the policemen did not show any warrant of arrest.
Hayuhay said he and his girlfriend and a relative were brought to the police station along Magsaysay Boulevard in Sta. Mesa and detained by the suspects.
Poso told The STAR that Hayuhay reportedly paid an undetermined amount before he was released the following day.
The STAR tried to contact the policemen to get their side but to no avail.
