New helper takes dip in employer's pool, drowns

MANILA, Philippines - A newly hired helper drowned after she tried out her employer’s pool in Barangay Old Balara, Quezon City yesterday.

Mary Jane Dolores, 20, told fellow helper Wilyn Pagbanua, 40, not to worry because she knew how to swim. Pagbanua told police that Dolores started working for the Ong family in Vista Real Subdivision on Thursday.

Police Officer 3 Loreto Tigno said Dolores, who only stood four feet tall, was seen swimming in the five-foot-deep pool at around 7 a.m. Pagbanua said she found Dolores’ body floating in the pool at around 7:30 a.m.
