- Ramil Bajo, Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A 25-year-old jobless man, still reeling from being separated from his wife, killed himself in his house in Tondo, Manila Tuesday morning.

Mark Paulo Aliga’s body was found by his mother, Virgina, at around 6:45 a.m. with one end of a blanket tied around his neck and the other end attached to a roof beam.

Aliga’s relatives said the victim had been depressed after separating from his wife, Clarita, who went home to her parents less than a year ago, according to Police Officer 3 Amelito Lopez.

He said Aliga told his sister, who is working in Japan, he was “ending his life,” and told Clarita he was leaving. Clarita said she ignored him, thinking he would not commit suicide.
