MANILA, Philippines - A dentist fell victim to highway robbers in Quezon City yesterday morning.
Mary Agnes Joyce Valdez said she was driving a dark green Toyota Revo (WHV-167) on her way to her clinic when around seven men blocked her path on the southbound lane of EDSA at around 8 a.m.
The car – registered to the dentist’s husband, Florante Valdez – was found abandoned along Katipunan Avenue near its intersection with P. Tuazon Boulevard at around 9:20 a.m., said Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Superintendent Mario dela Vega.
QCPD Station 8 commander Superintendent Lemuel Obon said the Revo became the subject of an alarm after four men wearing bonnets were seen in it.
QCPD deputy director Senior Superintendent Joel Pagdilao said the dentist was eventually found in Taguig. He said Valdez lost P10,000 to the armed men, who had long firearms and bandoliers.
The hijack was witnessed by policemen in the area, who immediately raised the alarm on the vehicle.
“When the Revo was abandoned, she (dentist ) was led to a (still unidentified) getaway vehicle and she was dropped at FTI (in Taguig),” Dela Vega said.
Valdez went to the QCPD yesterday afternoon to report the incident.
