- Aie Balagtas See - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - At least 4,000 families or 16,000 individuals displaced by floods caused by monsoon rains remained in evacuation centers in Muntinlupa City.

The evacuees came from the city’s eight villages near the Laguna Lake namely, Barangays Sucat, Buli, Cupang, Alabang, Bayanan, Putatan, Poblacion and Tunasan. Floodwaters in these areas have remained waist to neck deep.

The affected residents are taking shelter in 13 evacuation centers while waiting for the waters to subside.

Omar Acosta, city public information officer, said it may take one month for the floodwaters to recede. Of Muntinlupa’s nine barangays, only Ayala Alabang was spared from the floods.
