Makati shuts down 5 businesses without permits

MANILA, Philippines - The Makati City government closed down four restaurants and a computer shop after they were found to be operating without business permits.

The city’s business permits office said Ukkokei restaurant, under the company name Valentia Inc., in San Lorenzo Village was operating without a valid business permit while its 25 employees failed to produce the required individual working permit from the city government. One of the employees, a Japanese chef, had no working visa.

The other establishments the city government shut down were Cable Car bar and restaurant at Arnaiz Avenue in San Lorenzo Village, Tajimaya Charcoal Grill, UCC Café Terrace, and Think & Beyond computer retail shop.

The city government said it has closed down around 50 establishments since January.
