5 hurt as Revilla sister hits jeepney
MANILA, Philippines - Five passengers were injured when a younger sister of slain actor Ram Revilla crashed her car into a jeepney in Las Piñas City before dawn yesterday.
City police chief Senior Superintendent Romulo Sapitula said Gail Bautista Furuyama, 21, was in a Nissan Patrol when she drove against the flow of traffic along Alabang-Zapote Road in front of Golden Gate subdivision in Talon 3.
“She was not drunk but my investigators smelled alcohol on her breath,” Sapitula told The STAR over the phone.
The victims sustained slight injuries and were brought to a nearby hospital. Sapitula said their hospital bill will be shouldered by Furuyama.
Her lawyer, Gerry Alberto, said he has yet to get the details of the accident but noted that Furuyama went out with friends Saturday night. He said she is confined in a hospital because she suffered chest injuries.
Alberto said the Nissan Patrol belongs to his client’s mother-in-law, Nilda Furuyama. He added that the victims decided not to press charges because they were promised compensation.
Sapitula said the traffic police still issued Furuyama a ticket for reckless imprudence.
