2 Quezon City hospitals flooded

- Rhodina Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Two hospitals in Quezon City remained underwater yesterday.

Mayor Herbert Bautista ordered QC General Hospital director Antonio Cabigas to coordinate with the medical directors of the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center (UERMMMC) along Aurora Boulevard and De los Santos Medical Center for possible assistance to patients confined at the two hospitals.

The city government will also provide water and food to the patients.

The city’s social services development department headed by Teresa Mariano will oversee the delivery of food supplies.

Meanwhile, Mariano said the city government will shoulder the burial expenses for the nine victims who died in a landslide at Litex Road in Barangay Commonwealth at the height of heavy rains Tuesday.

“We are now making the necessary preparations for the burial assistance of all the victims,” she added.

During a meeting with members of the QC Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, Bautista urged school administrators in the city to allow their grounds to be used as temporary holding centers of evacuees during calamities.
