PNP eyes more civilians in non-law enforcement posts
MANILA, Philippines - Civilians will soon replace police officers at clerical, technical and administrative jobs in the Philippine National Police (PNP), officials said yesterday.
PNP chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome has approved the proposal of Deputy Director General Arturo Cacdac Jr., PNP deputy chief for administration.
Cacdac said the PNP plan, designed to boost police visibility on the streets, would need the approval of the National Police Commission (Napolcom) and the Department of Budget and Management.
“After hiring these civilian employees, we can immediately send policemen to the streets to improve peace and order,” he said.
Cacdac said they are in the process of consolidating positions that can be given to civilians.
