MANILA, Philippines - Two men on a motorcycle threw a grenade at the Philex Mining Corp.’s office in Pasig City before dawn yesterday, the second such incident in two months.
The MK2 hand grenade exploded near the gate of the mining firm’s office on Brixton street in Barangay Kapitolyo at around 3:20 a.m.
The lone security guard at the gate failed to jot down the license plate of the motorcycle used by the two men, according to Inspector Honesto Gotera, chief of the Eastern Police District explosives and ordnance division (EOD).
Senior Police Officer 4 Manolo Paguia of the EOD said motorcycle-riding men lobbed a hand grenade before dawn on June 2.
Paguia and the local police are still investigating the motive for the twin blasts at the mining office.
