Singaporean drug courier arrested at NAIA
Manila, Philippines - A Singaporean man fell into the hands of the authorities at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for attempting to smuggle some 3.5 kilos of shabu into the country on Friday night.
The suspect was identified as Danny Ng Boon, 32. He was arrested by combined operatives from the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) at the NAIA Terminal 1.
Customs police chief Col. Marlon Alameda said Boon arrived in Manila on board a Thai Airways flight from Bangkok at 7:30 p.m.
Alameda said that while the Singaporean was waiting for his turn at the customs arrival area, he was apparently looking for somebody to meet him.
When accosted, police found some 3.5 kilos of shabu worth P15 million in his luggage.
A follow-up operation resulted in the arrest of a Nepalese woman who was supposed to pick up the illegal drugs from Boon in a hotel in Malate, Manila.
The identity of the woman was not immediately available. The two suspects admitted they were asked to carry the illegal drugs for a fee.
